SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A truck driver's apparent error took out a series of power lines on Ind. 9 in Shelbyville on Wednesday, leaving much of the city without power for about half an hour, Shelbyville Police Department said.
The grain truck's hydraulic bin was in the up position as the driver rolled down the road. It was unclear why the bin had been left up while driving.
Duke Energy reported nearly 1,700 people without power in Shelby County as of about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. A transformer was also knocked out, Shelbyville Police Department said. Power had been restored by just before noon, Duke said.
The power outage prompted Shelbyville Central Schools to send students from Shelbyville High School home for the day. School officials said all students were dismissed before 11 a.m.
