SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A Shelby County family was rescued Monday morning after water surrounded their home.
The water rescue team got the family and two dogs out of a home in the 4000 block of West County Road 100 North as soon as the sun came up Monday, said Mike Schantz, director of emergency management in Shelby County. The team had to use an inflatable boat.
Family members weren't injured and had a place to stay. Schantz said the area is prone to flooding and some residents who have been there many years are accustomed to it.
Northwest Shelby County was hit hard by flooding. In that area, a family sought shelter from the American Red Cross because their home filled with 10 inches of water.
