WindStream furloughs workers

NORTH VERNON, Ind. (WISH) - The president of WindStream Technologies said he expects to recall workers within a month of 30 employees being furloughed.

Dan Bates said he wanted to dispel rumors that WindStream had gone out of business in Jennings County, our partners at the Republic report.

Bates confirmed that all employees at the North Vernon facility have been laid-off without pay. But he insists all will be recalled.

According to Bates, the problems leading to the temporary plant shutdown began in early August when a brake on the company's TurboMill micro-wind energy system was discovered to be defective. Shipments were stopped at that time while engineers worked to solve the problem.
