13-year-old keeps it close vs. world-class swimmer

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - Thirteen-year-old swimming phenom Michael Andrew kept it close against world championship medalist Tyler McGill.

The two raced head-to-head Saturday during the Fitter & Faster Tour in Fishers, Ind., giving the youngster a chance to see how he stacked up against one of the world's best swimmers. McGill won the 25-yard freestyle in 9.61 seconds, while Andrew touched in 10.21. McGill really had to work in the 25 breaststroke, winning in 12.61 while the youngster was right behind with a time of 12.93.

McGill won more comfortably in his signature stroke, taking the 50 butterfly with a time of 21.67 seconds. Andrew finished in 23.80.

Andrew accepted an offer to race McGill after setting more than a dozen national records in the 11-12 age group the last five months.
