FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - Fishers is just the latest community to enact a watering ban because of this extreme summer. It went into effect at 12:00 am Monday morning.
Code enforcement officers will start handing out warnings, then 500 dollar fines for every offense after that. The Town Manager, Scott Fadness says that there will be a bit of a grace period, so that "word" can get out before fines are handed out.
And the ban might be a bit of a pain, for those who take pride in their lawns.
"People take great care of their lawn and we like that. So we know that there are going to be a lot of people that are going to have a difficult time with this because of what it will do to their lawns but all in all at the end of the day I think they'll understand," Fadness explained.
Many residents use water for lawn maintenance.... the town manager believes this will make a huge impact on their water supply.
