911 call revealed after teen's death

CARMEL, IN.(WISH) - Carmel police have released the 911 call from friends trying to save the life of 18-year-old Brett Finbloom .

When medics arrived, he had no pulse. His parents say Brett is a lesson on underage drinking as his heart stopped and he later died.

The 911 call lasts six minutes. Part of it has not been released.

The call came around 12:15 a.m. Friday, three hours after his parents say Finbloom left as they were celebrating their anniversary.

For nearly a minute, no help.

No cell service in the house.

The 911 Dispatcher: "What's the problem?"
Caller: "OK I'm coming outside right now."
Caller: "We have a friend here and we think he has had too much to drink. We can't wake him up right now and we'd like to get an ambulance out here ASAP."
911 Dispatcher: "When was the last time someone spoke with him?"
Caller: "The last time someone spoke with him was probably 30 minutes ago. Outside, he was just passed out in my backyard right now so I took him into the couch and tried to get him some water. Like I am also a lifeguard and I cannot feel a pulse right now so I'm really freaking out so I'd like someone to come out here immediately."
911 Dispatcher: "What was he drinking?"
Caller: "I think just vodka. Honestly we were not even drinking over here. He came here already really intoxicated. So I'm not sure what he had to drink."

When medics arrived only two kids remained. 24-Hour News 8 is told the others — all underage — left.

911 Dispatcher: "Can you tell if he is breathing?"
Caller: "I cannot tell if he is breathing or not."
Caller: "I honestly do not think he is. "
911 Dispatcher: "OK"
Caller: "I cannot feel his breath right now."

He does CPR until medics arrive.

Caller: "The fire department is here"
911 Dispatcher: "Are they right there with the patient?"
Caller: "Yes they are right there with him."

The last 36 seconds of the 911 call are not released.

The Carmel city attorney said what was said in those 36 seconds is now a part of their investigation. Whether the kids called 911 right away or there was a delay as some panicked and scattered is unclear. What was released of the call doesn't clarify.

The Finblooms have set up a memorial fund in Brett's name through Carmel schools.

His parents want to help someone go to college since Brett never made it. He was set to leave for college next week.
