Carmel ranked top for indebtedness

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - Carmel has been ranked number one for indebtedness for a Civil City in Indiana.

The State of Indiana and the Department of Local Government Finance posted the Indebtedness Report for 2012 and Carmel came out on top for a Civil City. 

According to a release, only four other government bodies in other categories had more debt.

The other government bodies listed with more debt are Indianapolis Consolidated City, Indianapolis Public Schools, Marion County Airport Authority, and Marion County Health and Hospital.

Carmel’s total debt is $895,135,486.00 while Carmel’s per capital debt is $11,303.50.
