Ceremony marks year since deputy's death

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Officers gathered along Binford Boulevard on Tuesday to remember an officer who died there a year ago.

Hamilton County Deputy Leanea Nyeayea died in a motorcycle crash on Oct. 9, 2011 . He was driving a personal vehicle.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department presented a plaque to members of the Indianapolis Fire Department and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department who helped on the day of the accident. It was a small, private ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
