Duke plans Carmel outage for Thursday

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - Dozens of Carmel customers of Duke Energy will spend part of Thursday in the dark. Maintenance is the reason.

Duke is shutting down the power to 118 customers — mostly residential — but some small businesses as well. Duke says it needs to replace a switch gear and the only way to do that is to turn off the power.

While the company says it could do it overnight, it's doing it during the day because it expects the weather will be warmer then, making the work move more quickly.

The work will be done in the area of Horseferry Road and Broughton Street, on the west side of Carmel, near the village of West Clay. That's south of Main street near Towne Road.
