NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A Noblesville home containing eight residents caught on fire early Wednesday morning in the 1300 block of Wayne Street.
Around 3:55 a.m., police were called to the home and discovered the house full of smoke and flames. The fire had originated from the attic, spread down to the second floor, and was not stabilized until 4:42 a.m.
The incident caused $50,000 in damage and no injuries were reported.
It is unknown whether or not the house had a working fire detector, but the Noblesville Fire Department is reminding everyone to double check their own home detectors. Within the past month NFD has dealt with six house fires at which only one had a working smoke detector. Installing at least one smoke detector in a house can increase residents' survival rate by 50 percent.
