FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - The town of Fishers has banned professional fireworks, which means the fireworks for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra can't go on at its annual event at Conner Prairie.
Fishers Fire Department officials made the announcement Friday, at the same time Hamilton County banned the use of fireworks by all people throughout the county.
The symphony’s three-day stint at Conner Prairie for its Fourth of July performances typically includes an eight-minute fireworks show at the end. Officials had said earlier this week that if there wasn’t significant rain by Monday, the fireworks would be cut from the shows.
Fishers’ decision takes the decision making away from Conner Prairie and symphony officials.
The symphony still plans to perform and include cannons, and the fireworks will be saved for another Symphony on the Prairie performance.
