FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - Some businesses in Fishers with unique circumstances were able to get a waiver to use water during the mandatory usage ban .

It's on a case-by-case basis, and it all has to be approved by the town manager. Thursday, he gave the OK to one man with unique circumstances.

Tyler Taulbee’s business is fueled by water. He runs a portable car washing and detailing business called Ty’s Detail.

“About four or five years ago I decided to go out on my own and wash cars,” Taulbee said.

His car wash is mobile. He goes to peoples' homes.

“We use their water, their electricity, and we wash their car on-site,” said Taulbee.

Commercial car washes are exempt from the ban, but his way of washing cars isn't.

So he gave the town of Fishers a call.

“That’s my only job, so if they took that away from me, I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills. My guys wouldn’t be able to make money for themselves,” he said.

He said less than a day later, the manager called him back, giving him a water waiver, as long as he conserves.

“It was a big burden off my shoulders,” he said.

Fishers' director of public relations told us other businesses in Fishers have also been granted formal waivers as well.

Some irrigation companies are allowed to install irrigation and use water briefly to test it.

Some landscape companies have been given the OK to plant some trees and bushes.

And some car dealerships can wash their cars using a hose with a shut-off valve.

Other businesses that are exempt from the ban in Fishers are nurseries, commercial car washes, golf courses and parks.

If you're looking for a waiver, you'll need to call Fishers town hall or Fishers code enforcement.
