FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - Wednesday, Fishers will release details of a plan to enhance its image. 24-Hour News 8 got a preview, and it's a sign of how we live in the 21st century economy, where even entertainment has a role in economic development.
The focus is on what's now being called the Nickel Plate District - after a railway that used to run through the area.
"We grew really quickly and now we have to kind of figure out who we are. This is a key component of it, this downtown, this heart of Fishers, if you will," said Town Manager Scott Fadness.
Concert visitors will gather here on a million dollar stage, funded, Fadness said, with savings. No bonds. No debt. And no taxes. The amphitheater project should done by the end of August. And details should be forthcoming soon on the first show, set for Oct. 13.
