Fishers seeks input on new downtown

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - The soon to be city of Fishers wants to know what residents would like to see at an open house Monday at the Fishers town hall.

Fishers has brought in a couple of different planning firms to help in the design of the new downtown. Representatives will be on hand to answer any questions or listen to any concerns that people might have.

There are already plans in the works to change a bit of the downtown landscape into something people would see in downtown Indianapolis. A 200-unit luxury apartment complex and parking garage is in the works to break ground in 2013. The town manager says this is just the first step in getting a new, younger workforce to move to the area.

The open house runs from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. There are a couple of formal presentations that are at 3:30 and 7. There will be conceptual designs, drawings and building renderings neighbors can look at.
