FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - The summer heat is extreme this year, but that didn't stop people from enjoying the 24th annual Fishers Freedom Festival.

The festival allows residents of Fishers to become more involved in their community.

Attendees can enjoy the free event, which includes, art and craft sites, business booths, fireworks, a 5K Run/Walk, live music, a national UFO Major Disc Dog tournament, two parades, food, and much more.

This year, firefighters and medics were taking extra pre-caution due to the heat.

They had medics on scene for any illnesses, including those related to heat.

The Fishers Fire Department has canceled the ground fireworks for safety reasons, but the aerial firework show will still be held on Sunday.
