NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - Former IU standout Todd Leary is back behind bars on charges that he stole appliances from foreclosed homes in Hamilton County.

Todd Leary was arrested in Allen County in February on felony charges accusing him of misusing $1 million that belonged to the mortgage company where he worked.

24-Hour News 8 has obtained court documents that accuse the former basketball great of hiring two men to remove the appliances from homes.

Prosecutors allege the burglaries and thefts date back to March 31st, 2010.

The investigation began in April when a neighbor noticed two men removing a refrigerator from a home in Fishers, Ind. The next day, the neighbor called 911 when the van returned.

Police tracked the van to two men who claimed to be hired by Todd Leary to remove appliances from foreclosed homes. Police used GPS to track the van as the two men met with Leary at a home in Fishers. Detectives drove to the neighborhood where they saw the men leave the house with a refrigerator.

According to the documents, Leary often brought the appliances to “Big Al’s Thrift Store”. The documents indicate the appliance store’s owner would pay Leary for leads on foreclosed homes being sold with appliances.

Leary is charged with two counts of burglary and three counts of theft.

The two men, Eric and Greg Campbell were also arrested. Eric faces two counts of Burglary and three counts of Theft. Greg faces two charges of Burglary.
