FISHERS,IN (WISH) - A day after a jewelry heist , the store’s owner relives the scary moments seen in just-released surveillance video.
It’s video of moments the Hamilton County business owner will never forget.
Fishers Police Department is still searching for two suspects who held Jason Hunter and another employee of his store - Jewelry Gallery at 116th Street and Allisonville Road - at gunpoint Monday morning.
All Jason Hunter said he could do as he stared down the barrel of a gun was pray.
“I was thinking about my daughter, hoping to God I get to see her again,” Hunter said.
Watching the surveillance video, it’s clear to see why Hunter and the woman held at gunpoint believed they may not survive the attack.
Two men entered the store, and Hunter said one tried to sell a cheap piece of jewelry to the female employee at the counter. An instant later, the man was threatening them with a .45 caliber hand gun.
The two men then bound the hands of Hunter and his employee, forcing them on the ground in the backroom, where there are no cameras.
Hunter said the pair took $200,000 in cash and jewelry - all of which he said was uninsured.
“Just now,” Hunter said, pointing out a moment in the video, “I told him the money is in the safe in the second drawer. There is like $4,000 cash in there. Just take it. So now he is running in there to take it and stuffing it down his pants.”
Once the men left, Hunter broke free from his restraints and flagged down police working traffic control across the street. Fishers Police Department quickly caught a getaway driver but are still searching for two other suspects.
Hunter also said he believes his store was target a week prior.
“They came in a week before. They wanted to do this a week before. But something scared them, cause it was the exact same scenario. They had the same clothes, the back pack, everything. So something scared them last week,” he said.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
