CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - Grand jury testimony is being released to attorneys for the suspects in the Carmel High School assault case.
In a 30-minute hearing, Judge William Hughes agreed to release transcripts to attorneys but not the general public.
The request came from attorneys for Brandon Hoge, Oscar Falodun and Scott Laskowski.
The attorneys will look at grand jury testimony and compare it to witness statements to police about the assaults.
Attorney Jim Crum told the judge the parents of Brandon Hoge have been very active in the case as he requested the parents be allowed to see the testimony.
Judge Hughes denied the request saying, "the parents are not your client, these are adult clients and I’m very serious grand jury testimony is to be protected."
The judge limited who can see the transcripts, even going so far as to say it would take a written order from the court.
There are 31 witnesses and, with some having testified twice, there are 53 testimonies.
With a trial in September, the court is rushing to provide the transcripts within 30 days.
