CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - Developers want to break ground on luxury apartments in the next 90 days in Carmel.
The Mezz is a $6 million project that crews slated to be built beside the Tarkington Theater Building.
Once complete, the building will hold 44 luxury apartments. Some of those units will be built overlooking the Monon Trail.
And that has at least some people unhappy with the project.
"It would take away some of the scenery from the trail,” said jogger Sue Johnson. "You come here for the nature of it."
But another trail user disagreed.
"The more people we can get here, the more growth we will have," said biker Thomas Day. “People already say there is no culture in Carmel. Maybe we can fix that."
The developer Anderson Birkla plans to move his headquarters inside the building once complete.
