FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - INDOT is holding an open house Monday night to answer questions about current and upcoming projects that run from 116 th Street in Fishers to I-465.
Starting this summer, the ramp at 116 th Street from southbound I-69 will be closed; drivers will be detoured to 96th Street.
Among the upgrades will be an additional southbound lane that runs from 116 th Street to I-465.
During peak hours, two lanes will remain open at the southbound interchange.
The contract also calls for new auxiliary lanes to connect interchange ramps between 82 nd, 96 th and 116 th Streets.
INDOT said most restrictions for drivers will happen during non-peak hours.
“Construction can present headaches to commuters, especially in areas that are already congested,” Nathan Riggs with INDOT said. “We're really taking great lengths to minimize any inconvenience that the construction might have, keeping open as many lanes as possible, and on the main line contract, in particular, we're using what's called a movable barrier wall that will allow as many lanes to be open during the peak traffic periods.”
This is the second round of work in this area.
Right now work is under way on I-69 at the northbound exit to 116 th Street.
INDOT said current work to the northbound lanes will finish this spring. Work to the southbound lanes will start this summer and wrap up by the end of the year.
Monday’s open house is being held to answer questions about either project.
