FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - Fishers Police Department has determined that the report of a suspicious person approaching children Monday was actually just a misinterpretation, and the man had no criminal intent.

A Fishers mother had contacted police after her children told her a man in a red Jeep had approached them and asked them if they wanted to pet his dog.

Tuesday, police located the man and spoke with him, along with family members and neighbors, and concluded that there was no criminal intent. The driver told investigators he was being friendly and did not realize the possible negative perception of his actions.

Fishers PD expressed gratitude to those who assisted in the quick resolution of the case.
