NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - Police in Hamilton County responded to a vehicle accident Friday evening where a car drove into an apartment building.

Officers say a 18-year-old man crashed into a vacant apartment building in the area of Carrigan Road and Little Chicago Road.

Crews responded to the Lions Creek Apartment complex shortly after 6:30 p.m.

The driver was reportedly traveling northbound on Little Chicago Road when he may have disregarded the stop sign at Carrigan Road, evidence at the scene indicated.

The teen then continued traveling northbound through a grassy area and hit the apartment building. He was taken to Riverview Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police say the intersection has presented problems before. This accident was the third incident where a car drove into the building in recent years.

According to the public information officer at the scene, officers will need to speak with the city about installing a barrier in the area.

The street was reopened after the accident was cleared.

An undetermined number of tenants in the area were without power Friday night due to the accident. Duke Energy crews were working to restore power.
