CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - "Excellent Care and now a beautiful space."
The is how Saint VIncent Carmel Hospital describes the final phase of renovations to its maternity unit.
24-Hour-News 8 was able to tour the facility Tuesday morning. The expanded labor and delivery rooms include renovated, private, spacious bathrooms. Some of the bathrooms even offer specialty air jet tubes.
The labor and delivery suites include a fully adjustable birthing bed and an infant alcove attached to each room.
"It was really our goal to create a beautiful space that was comforting. It was really, not as much about luxury, it was about creating comfort, reducing anxiety, fear, just the nervousness, a pregnant mom and a family have, when they come in. It's just our goal to remove a lot of that, take the obstacles out of the way, so they can really enjoy really the beautiful moment that, that childbirth is," Michelle Slayman of Saint Vincent Carmel Hospital says.
The 124-bed hospital typically delivers babies from Northern Marion County, Carmel, Fishers, Westfield, and Zionsville.
