CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - A spokesperson from Duke Energy says a failed piece of electrical equipment has led to power outages in the Carmel area.

An insulator at a substation failed around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, causing over 3,000 people to lose power. The substation is located just north of 111th Street and west of Westfield Boulevard.

Crews are attempted to use a process that may reroute and restore power while they repair the insulator.

As of 12:30 p.m., only eleven customers were without power in Hamilton County.
