FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) - The Town of Fishers broke ground Thursday for a new fire station near 104th Street and Florida Road.
This will be the sixth three-bay station for Fishers. It is expected to be completed by the spring of 2013 at a cost of $2.2 million.
The station will house an engine and an ambulance.
"We continue to be committed to providing the highest level of public safety to the Fishers community," said Fishers Town Council Vice President Mike Colby.
"The outstanding facility we are breaking ground on today not only reinforces that commitment to public safety, but it also shows it is our top priority."
Officials say the station will benefit various areas of the community.
"This fire station will have a positive effect on our position to provide a variety of public safety resources to Fall Creek Township and the Geist community in a timely manner," said Fishers Fire Chief Steve Orusa.
"We are excited about the opportunity to increase our level of service to that area." RQAW Consulting, Engineers and Architects and Mayer Najem will manage the construction project.
