INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - On Tuesday, three hotels will be dedicated on the Marriott site in downtown Indianapolis.
But it's not just the hotels that will likely catch people’s attention.
24-Hour News 8 was granted exclusive access to the creation of a 15 ton piece of artwork. It resembles a cardinal.
Workers in Mooresville spent 6 months cutting, shaping, and welding more than 10,000 pounds of steel and 20,000 pounds of aluminum.
Jeff Laramore is the artist behind the artwork.
“I had several drawings of birds and one that seemed the most elegant and simple and yet a little abstract,” said Laramore. “When I look at it I see a cardinal right away to other people maybe not.”
Last month Chopper 8 flew above the delivery of the pieces, it took several weeks to assemble them.
