INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana is getting a big boost in efforts to help find missing children.
Governor Mitch Daniels, Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell along with the American Football Coaches Association announced Tuesday that the state is joining the National FBI Child ID program.
The group donated 162,000 kits that will go out to kindergarten
and first grade students.
The fingerprint, DNA, and picture records can be stored by
the parent and can be used to help police find a child who goes
missing.
“I am a father of 4. And also a grandfather, I have two grandsons that are precious too us as well. And this initiative certainly touches all of us in our communities where something unfortunate could happen to our little ones it gives us the opportunity and a vehicle to help and assist in their recovery,” said
The FBI said the kits have 80% of what investigators ask for whenever they search for a missing child.
