INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Firefighters and demolition crews are on the scene of a collapsed building after receiving an emergency call.
William M. Craig, President and CEO of Craig Funeral Home, was working when he heard a noise that made him step outside. He saw a few bricks falling from the building next door and went inside to call for help. Inside, he heard the south wall of the building collapsing.
The Indianapolis Fire Department Collapse Team and other responders arrived at 3449 North College Avenue around 1:30 p.m. and say that the building cannot be salvaged. Battalion Chief Casey Sweeney says the former Apostolic Overcoming Church of God is “a complete loss and must be demolished.”
The Department of Code Enforcement says that an emergency order for demolition has been placed for the structure. The demolition will begin Sunday afternoon.
