INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police say a man accidentally drove his Ford Edge through the side of a McDonald’s on the south side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.
When firefighters arrived to the restaurant located at 5416 South East Street, they found an SUV that had crashed into the side of the building.
The driver, William McIntire, 82 told police he thought he was pressing the brake, but must have hit the accelerator, crashing through the side of the restaurant. His wife was also in the car and was not injured.
Two people eating lunch said they were thrown out of their seats when the car came crashing through the wall and said it sounded like a bomb going off. They only suffered minor scrapes and cuts.
Both McIntire and his wife were taken home by a friend.
