INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Two people are recovering at Wishard hospital from smoke inhalation after a fire in their home overnight.

The fire broke out just after midnight Friday in the 6100 block of Sargent Road. That's in Lawrence Township.

Firefighters say there are no hydrants in the area so they had to bring water in to fight the fire.

However, they say they quickly got it under control. “The damage is all to the rear, I believe there is a wood burning stove back there but we don't know what type of relationship that had to the fire, at this time it's under investigation,” said Captain James Curseaden, Lawrence Township Fire Department.

A firefighter also suffered a cut to his hand while fighting the fire. Medics treated him at the scene and he is okay.
