wish-Indianapolis - Investigators say Paul Sherfick of Indianapolis shot himself and a bullet from an officer's gun also hit him.
Police say the 29 year old robbed the Old National Bank at 5943 South East Street Friday morning.
Ballistic reports are pending. It is unknown if the fatal wound was self inflicted or the result of IMPD gunfire.
Sherfick has no known criminal history.
Not long after the Old National robbery, a police K-9 unit tracked Sherfick back to an abandoned house near US 31 and Gilbert Drive. Several schools in the area were locked down while police looked for him.
IMPD Sgt. Matt Mount says the man's body was found in the woods with the assault rifle they believe was used in a morning bank robbery. A bag of money believed to have been taken in the robbery was also found in the woods, police say.
