INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police have identified a teenager who died after a semi hit him
while riding his bicycle.
The accident happened at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday at
Kentucky Avenue and Heathrow Way.
Police told 24-Hour News 8, the driver of the truck was
heading southbound on Kentucky, and 17-year-old Eduard Wetstone was
heading east on Heathrow Way when he was struck.
Witnesses say the truck had the green light and the teenager
had the red.
“There was no indication that the semi was speeding or
anything like that, accident investigators are taking measurements,
it looks just like an accident. We're not sure why the teenager
drove through the red light, but he did, and there are witnesses
that saw this occur,” said Lt. Mark McCardia.
Medics took Wetstone to Wishard Hospital where he later died.
Police said the driver of the truck is a 41-year-old man from
Dorset, Ohio. He was not injured.
Wetstone was a junior at Decatur Central High School.
Police said Wetstone may have possibly been listening to his
ipod at the time of the crash.
