INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A dome implosion party on the 12th floor of the Omni Severin Hotel provided one of the best views in the city.

"This is probably the best view of the dome in the city, no better place to watch," said Danny DiRienzo. In the Presidential Suite 12 stories high at the Omni Hotel there are plenty of things to eat and drink.

"This is so fun! My son's from out of town, I asked him if wanted to come, and he's like yes!" said Connie Vickery. With the great view of the RCA Dome, it was the perfect place to watch the implosion.

"I think it's going to be fun to watch it come down, and go down so quickly, but it's really about being able to sit here and watch and seeing the excitement of the dust cloud come up and go down, it's just going to be a lot of fun," said Omni General Manager Phil Ray.

About 50 people gathered in the suite with cameras and cell phones in hand. We also wanted to make sure we captured every angle. After a lot of anticipation with the 30-minute delay finally everyone hears the explosions.

"You could kind of feel it in your chest, and you got butterflies in your stomach. But just to see everything all at once was crazy," said Jocelyn DiRienzo.

"I thought it was fantastic, it was very cool to see the flashes of light as the dynamite was exploding, and it's always amazing how fast it is, just like that," said Lisa Stam.

"It was pretty impressive, it was crazy. We've seen it on TV before, but I never thought it would be anything like that," Danny DiRienzo.

One woman said it was hard to see a part of the Indianapolis skyline crumble to the ground, but she was also excited to see a part of history. The Omni didn't have to cover windows like buildings closer to the dome did, however Ray said they shut off their fresh-air intake and turned off the fire alarm for a short time.
