INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - In a 24 hour News 8 exclusive, we learn more about a father and son behind bars for murder and an alleged revenge murder with an 18 year old vendetta. Why would someone would want to kill so many years later? We went straight to one of the suspects behind bars. From there, the story takes a twist with a third man and now a potential motive.

Johnnie Thompson Senior walked into our interview expecting his attorney to be there. I-Team 8 anchor Karen Hensel asked about what happened that night. Thompson Sr. at first only responded with “I have nothing to say without my attorney and I haven’t spoken with an attorney yet.” When asked if he killed Anthony Daly he said “I did not kill Anthony Daly.” When pressed for who did murder, he would only say he needed to have his attorney.

His mug shots over the years tell the story of a man locked up more than 30 times. Now he and his son, Johnnie Thompson Jr., are both behind bars for the murder of 50 year old Anthony Daly. Daly’s body was found Sunday morning dumped in a parking lot behind IPS school 21 on English Avenue. Police say Daly’s death is a revenge killing from 1992. Karen asked Thompson Sr “Do you want to tell me about this vendetta from 18 years ago?” He answered, “I don’t have no vendetta from 18 years ago against nobody.”

I-Team 8 talked with two women, a family member and a family friend, about that night 18 years ago. Both asked to remain anonymous but one who was a girl back then said “somebody had put bad drugs in a needle and shot somebody up.” Karen: “Meaning to put bad drugs in there?” Girl: “Yes.” She says money may be the motive, no one was ever charged, it was simply an overdose on heroin that killed David Bishop who was a father of two.

The women say one of those two children, now grown, threatened revenge. One says he would openly say “the guy who had something to do with my Dad's death is gonna get what he has coming to him”. They never took is seriously but agreed “he’s the only one who has the motive to do it.” One gives details of what happened last weekend in the hours after the stabbing telling us “the third party come in the house and said ‘I stabbed him, I stabbed him. We got to get rid of his body. We got to clean this up. We got to get rid of the body’. Johnnie said he was freaking out so, he went and helped load the body in the truck. He came back in the house and his father and the third party had gone to go get rid of it” (the body).

The third party called her just before our interview which prompted her to predict “I’m sure it won’t be the last time he calls.” She fears for her safety saying “just knowing what I know, he did that to him, with me coming out with what I know who is to say I won’t be next.” She is talking to I-Team 8 as protection because she says “everybody needs to know.”

I-Team 8 tracked down the third man, who was just a boy, when his father was killed. He didn't return our phone calls.

Johnnie Thompson Junior and Senior go to court Friday morning. Police confirm a third person was involved, but say he is cooperating with the investigation.
