INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - More details are coming out about the drowning of a three-year-old Sir Isaiah Jameson Hale Inman earlier this week. The mother of the little boy tried to rescue him and the horror of losing her son is still fresh in her mind.
Stacy Inman invited 24-Hour News 8 into her home to describe the events leading up to the tragedy.
Inman said she woke from a nap to discover that her son had gotten past a child-proof lock on her front door. Inman says she didn't immediately see her son, so she ran to a nearby park.
"I come running over here and I look and I see my baby in the five feet down there, face down, floating in the water," said Inman.
The gate to the pool is tightly locked with a chain now, but Inman said the gate was loose enough the day of the drowning for her son to possibly squeeze through and gain access to the pool.
After seeing her son's body in the water, Inman said she jumped the fence, jumped into the pool and pulled her son's body from the pool.
Inman said she tried CPR, but her son was gone.
The pool is still filled with water, despite being closed for the season. 24-Hour News 8 tried to ask the apartment manager when the water would be drained, but the person who came to the door said, "No comment."
Inman said despite the addition of some bricks at the base of the fence, the pool is still unsecured. She demonstrated how the bottom of the fence could be easily lifted to allow a person to crawl under it.
Inman's neighbors are mourning too. They gathered together for an impromptu candlelight vigil Thursday night. To watch video from the vigil and hear more from Inman, click on the video link in the left margin of this story.
