Police name pedestrian killed in accident

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - Police have not made any arrests after a pedestrian was struck and killed early Sunday morning.

According to a Lawrence police report, Apolonio Bautista-Hernandez, 32, of Indianapolis, was walking near the intersection of East 46th Street and Kingsboro Drive around 1 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Nakiesha Lawson, 27, of Indianapolis.

When police arrived, Bautista-Hernandez was unresponsive with a possible head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

Lawson told police that she was driving east on 46th Street when she hit the man. She said she didn’t see him and he appeared as if he was just standing in the middle of the street. She also said she didn’t mean to hit him, the report said.
