INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - In just five days, explosives will bring down what's left of the
RCA Dome.
On December 20, just after 9 a.m., crews will detonate nearly
1,000 pounds of dynamite to reduce the Dome to rubble. Workers are
already taking steps to prepare the building for the implosion,
including putting notches in the building to help weaken the
structure.
"Probably by the time it settles, by the time the concrete is
down, it'll take 21-26 seconds," said Tom Scheel, Shiel Sexton,
Inc.
Several streets around the Dome will be closed Saturday
morning starting around 8 a.m. until at least an hour or two after
the implosion. There is no public viewing area being set up for the
implosion.
24-Hour News 8 and WISHTV.com are the best places to see all
of the angles of the implosion on Saturday just after 9 a.m.
