INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Metro police are looking for two suspects who robbed the
downtown Dunkin Donuts.
Police said the robbery occurred at about 5:15 a.m. on Friday
before the store opened for business.
According to police, two employees began the process of
opening the store when two men forced the locked doors open. What
happened in the store can only be described as strange.
“After they got inside they robbed them of some money,
they forced them into a backroom, had them remove their pants and
then they fled on foot out the east side of the building,”
said Officer Shelly Higdon of the Indianapolis Metro Police
Department.
Police are working to get the surveillance video from cameras
inside the store. They are also checking cameras at other area
businesses to see if they captured any images of the men entering
or leaving the Dunkin Donuts.
Police have a vague description of the suspects. The two men
were dressed in all black with black masks, black jackets and black
pants.
The early morning crime did little to deter customers.
The store re-opened by 8 a.m. Later in the day, the store manager had the locks on the doors changed.
The armed robbery was unusual for the downtown area. The downtown Dunkin Donuts is just two blocks from police headquarters.
24-Hour News 8 checked police records for the past 12 months and
found only two other armed robberies committed at downtown chain
stores.
