Over 5K people participate in Drumstick Dash

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - For the seventh year, a hungry mob chased a turkey through Broad Ripple Village on Thanksgiving Day.

The 4.5 mile run is part of the Drumstick Dash.

24-Hour News 8's Jeane Coakley won the celebrity challenge for the second year in a row. Coakley said it was all about defending the title.

"By mile three I definitely had to dig deep, but I just kept imaging that shiny trophy on my desk," Coakley joked. "Now I can feel good about sneaking in an extra piece of pie at Thanksgiving dinner."

All the proceeds from the race go to the Wheeler Mission Ministries .

Well over 5,000 people participated in this year's event.
