INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A man, his two children, and four dogs escaped an electrical fire that damaged their home Saturday afternoon.
The homeowner, Daniel Flynn and his 19 and 15 year-old children were home during the time the fire started and that a neighbor alerted them about heavy smoke coming from the roof.
Flynn told firefighters that Friday night, the home nearWashington Street and Hawthorne Lane had experienced some electrical issues and an electrician was supposed to fix it on Saturday.
The family escaped the home with their four dogs, Gatsby, Sandy, Ruby, and Lola.
The house sustained extensive damage estimated at $155,000 to the upper level and the home did not have working smoke detectors, according to an IFD release.
The family has homeowners insurance and will stay with relatives.
