INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A man is in the hospital after he was nearly shot in the head inside the jail’s crime lab.

Indianapolis Metro Police told 24-Hour News 8 that 36-year-old Douglas Boxler, a firearms technician, was inside the crime lab test firing a weapon and the bullet ricocheted and grazed him in the head.

The shooting happened just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday inside the Marion County Jail.

24-Hour News 8 captured pictures of Boxler on a gurney being put into an ambulance. His injuries are reported to be minor and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Investigators say Boxler was test firing a black powder weapon when the “projectile” bounced back and grazed him. 24-Hour News 8 has been told there is video of the incident and that video might help investigators determine what happened.
