Agribussiness team leaves for Afghanistan

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana National Guard Soldiers attended a deployment ceremony Sunday afternoon in preparation for another tour in Afghanistan.

Twelve members of the 519th Agribusiness Development Team said goodbye to loved ones and friends at the Combined Surface Maintenance Shop 1.

The unit will work with the government of Afghanistan and other stakeholders to improve agribusiness.

The team's agriculture specialists are Soldiers and Airmen with experience in several agricultural fields, such as forestry, engineering, pest management and general farming.

The 519th ADT will deploy to Khowst Province to develop new agribusiness projects.
