Allisonville/I-465 closure looms

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A major road construction project is about to begin and cause a major headache for drivers on the north side.

On May 30, INDOT crews with the will shut down the Allisonville Road Bridge over Interstate 465. It will stay closed about 110 days. The new interchange will combine all I-465 ramps into one intersection, with one traffic light. INDOT said that should mean fewer backups

Some commuters are concerned about getting around. INDOT hosted a town hall meeting Thursday to address concerns.

Some alternative suggested routes are 82nd, 86th and 96th streets to get east and west, and Keystone and Interstate 69 to go north and south.
