INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis Firefighters had to battle two side-by-side house fires Sunday afternoon on the city’s east side.
Firefighters arrived to the scene in the 800 block of Dawson Street around 4:30 p.m. and found heavy fire and smoke.
They began a very aggressive attack due to the quick spread of smoke and flames.
The fires took about an hour and half to extinguish.
All the homeowners were able to get out of the home and no one was injured.
Firefighters were able to save 2 snakes, 2 dogs, and a cockatoo.
IFD and IMPD Fire Investigations unit will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
The homes garages did receive some damage from the fires heat.
