Apartment fire causes $50,000 in damages

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Four apartment units were damaged and no injuries were reported after crews responded to a fire Saturday morning.

The Indianapolis Fire Department was dispatched to the 9300 block of East 40th Street to the report of an apartment fire shortly after 10:45 a.m.

When crews arrived they found heavy smoke showing at the Hearts Landing Apartments. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the apartment unit where it originated.

The fire was under control within 30 minutes.

Four units were damaged, but they were vacant. Damages are estimated at $50,000. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
