INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Arson investigators are on the scene of a residence fire on the city's north side.
Shortly after 2:30 am, Indianapolis firefighters were called to a fire at West 28th Street and North Indianapolis Avenue.
As firefighters arrived they observed heavy fire and smoke shooting from the roof of the two-story framed house.
Firefighters also battled live power lines on the east side of the residence.
Neighbors say there was no one living at the residence and that it had been vacant for the past two months.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 45 minutes.
At one point there was some concern that portions of the house might collapse. The structure has since been declared unsafe.
One firefighter was was treated for a minor injury.
Damage is estimated at $70,000.
This fire is just the latest in a string of suspicious vacant structure fires in Indianapolis this summer.
