INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after four men were shot on the city's east side.

Officials say the incident occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday night at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Edinburge Square.

An IMPD spokesman says the shooting killed Michael Baker, 25, of Indianapolis, and left three others wounded. One of the victims is in critical condition, another in serious, and another sustained non-life threatening injuries with a gunshot wound to the hand in the shooting. Two of the victims were transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital.

It's not clear yet where exactly the shooting happened, but one victim was found in an upstairs hallway.

Neighbors told 24-Hour News 8 the four men were friends.

"I got a phone call from my friend's mother, who told me to check on him," said Matthew Marsh. "He wasn't answering his phone."

"I just heard gunshots," said Kyana Waller, who lives nearby. She said she heard one round of gunshots, then another. "I'm running for my mom, and she said, 'Get away from the window.' It's scary."

Waller also said she knew one of the victims.

"Same school, same age. It's like crazy," she added. "There are too many kids dying."

Witnesses tell police they saw a dark colored car with two black men leaving the scene.

The names of the others involved have not yet been released.
