INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis bar owner is facing accusations of selling alcohol to minors after police found more than 100 teens inside over the weekend.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said officers, alerted that a "traffic light" party was planned at the Blue Agave Mexican Restaurant and Bar near Stop 11 Road and Madison Avenue on Saturday night, found the teens inside very early Sunday morning, and said the bar was not in compliance with state laws, including separation of the bar area, which is required if patrons younger than 21 are to be allowed inside. There was also no kitchen and no tables or chairs.
The owner was also cited for allowing minors to loiter and for not having the proper permits. The owner had a liquor license to operate as a restaurant, but not the permits required to run a dance hall.
IMPD said 26 juveniles were cited for being minors in a tavern and two were cited for intoxication. Two other minors were arrested for consumption of alcohol. Officers released 105 minors who did not test positive for alcohol.
Three promoters were also cited for violations of the dance hall ordinance.
