Ben Davis HS ups security after fights

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Extra security officers were on staff Friday morning at Ben Davis High School after 12 students were involved in a campus brawl Thursday.

Wayne Township Schools spokeswoman Mary McDermott says the fight started between to boys in a restroom and resumed into the parking lot.

One of the two boys was arrested, she says, and both face suspension.

“This will not be tolerated,” McDermott said.

The school normally has four security officers but there were nine on campus Friday.

McDermott told 24-Hour News 8 that none of the staff members were able to substantiate rumors that the fight was race related.

A Ben Davis student was arrested Friday after she allegedly slapped a police officer because he apparently refused to let her out of lunch early.
