INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana's Bicentennial Commission has approved four new projects for its nature trust aimed at conserving land in the state.

The projects announced Thursday include five acres of land for Lake County parks and a five-acre lot in Madison that includes Ohio River frontage that will allow expansion of a public park.

They also include 64 acres in Porter County located along the north slope of the Valparaiso Moraine, part of the biologically important Moraine forest. The fourth projects is 122 acres around Big Center Lake on the edge of Angola that will be developed as a nature preserve and site for hiking, bird watching, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

The nature trust is expanding trails, wetlands and recreation areas to help celebrate Indiana's bicentennial in 2016.
